There is an abundance of physical comedy at the fringe, but Slow Clap productions (aka Vachel Spirason and Stephanie Brotchie) offer some of the best. It comes as little surprise to learn that Slow Clap are also part-time producers of Dr Brown, as there are striking similarities between them. Main performer Spirason does not share Dr Brown’s muteness; indeed he immediately informs the audience that he is a storyteller. But his convoluted story is greatly enhanced by an impressive physicality and virtuoso clowning. Most of all, Truth shares the same sense of joyous chaos, with a highly original structure which means anything really can happen, and frequently does in a performance that is ridiculous, convoluted, and ultimately life-affirming.
