Showing @ NoFit State Big Top, Edinburgh until Mon 26 Aug @ times vary

Every August, there are those who wax lyrical about which acts are appropriate for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Generally, they agree upon work-in-progress scripts, grass-roots companies and skeleton sets. But ultimately, audiences will flock to the most alluring shows, as is being proved daily by NoFit State Circus with one of two spectacular Fringe performances, Bianco.

Upon entering the NoFit State Big Top, the audience is transported to an otherworldy somewhere, performer’s silhouettes hinting at what lies ahead. The entire set is fully mobile throughout so viewers are able to witness the performer’s breathtaking aerial and acrobatic skills from every angle. Bianco demonstrates the possibilities of the circus craft when injected with strong artistic and theatrical vision; hypnotic live music and a promenade structure make for a captivating show. Blurring the lines between theatre and real circus life, the NoFit State ensemble remains contemporary through their commitment to a controlled type of chaos, and Firenza Guidi’s meticulous direction makes for a totally immersive experience. Beguiling, sensually indulgent and relentlessly entertaining from start to finish; this is surely what the Fringe is all about.
