In his third Edinburgh show, performance artist Jonny Woo traces his history from teenage shop assistant to cabaret superstar. This journey was made largely during the 1980s, providing Woo with ammunition for several satirical jibes at the decade everyone loves to hate. Wonder Woo-Man is an intimate, highly personal show – autobiography as cabaret. The audience are treated to a dizzying variety of original songs and some spoken word pieces as well as the main monologue. On-stage costume changes are as frequent and fabulous as one might expect, and Woo’s training in dance and theatre is evident. No surprise then that he has performed for an impressive list of clients from Freddy Mercury to Fox TV; Woo’s stage presence is as sparkling as his rich boyfriend’s fridge full of champagne.
