That is All You Need to Know is presented on a larger scale than Idle Motion‘s previous Fringe shows but it still has all the usual hallmarks of this exciting young company: inventive staging, excellent performances, impressive multimedia techniques and a fascinating story based on factual events and told with great emotional depth.
For their fourth Fringe production, Idle Motion have spent two years researching Bletchley Park and the code-breaking work that took place there. It is less about individuals and more an exploration of how the secrecy surrounding this work damaged, and in some cases even destroyed, the lives of the unsung heroes whose work ultimately helped lead the Allies to victory. In many cases they were stigmatised, branded as cowards, rejected by their families – and by the government they had served so effectively during the war. That is All You Need to Know is a labour of love from well-respected Fringe veterans and their work pays off in another finely crafted and heartfelt new production.
