Showing @ Traverse Theatre, Mon 6 June, 8pm

Performed in the chilled out atmosphere of the Traverse bar, Noisy Nights is a regular opportunity to listen to some of the best examples of brand new music courtesy of Scotland’s Red Note Ensemble. Renowned for the exceptionally high quality of their unique musical sounds, Red Note was founded in 2008 to perform, develop and commission established and emerging music from contemporary composers.

In the fourteenth event of its kind, this time Noisy Nights will be focussing on all things electric – specifically the guitar, violin and cello – to showcase new music submitted by composers from around the world in response to Red Note’s Call for Scores. There will also be a 10-minute Composing Challenge, whereby the audience will be invited to write their own piece of music on scores distributed by the ensemble during the interval, the best of which will then be performed.

And if that all sounds like a great way to spend an evening, get ready to pinch yourself: it’s free! The quality and talent of Red Note Ensemble really cannot be overemphasised, so make the most of this rare opportunity and see what the world of contemporary music has to offer.
