Monkey Barrel Comedy has announced its first release of shows for Edinburgh Fringe 2024.

Over 55 shows have already been announced across 7 venues. As well as their permanent, year-round spaces providing comedy performances to Edinburgh throughout the year, Monkey Barrel returns to rooms at The Tron and The Hive for 2024.

They include many returning favourites such as Pierre Novellie, Sarah Keyworth, Vittorio Angelone, Dan Tiernan, Amy Gledhill, and Catherine Bohart. Also returning to the Monkey Barrel are Adam Flood, Josh Glanc, Laura Davis, Larry Dean, Mat Ewins, Milo Edwards, Olga Koch, Micky Overman, and 2022 Best Newcomer Award winner Lara Ricote. Established acts added to the roster include Paddy Young, Sara Barron, and Stevie Martin.

2023 was an especially successful Fringe for Scottish-based acts, and there are another excellent raft of local talent for 2024. Among those with new shows are Stuart McPherson, Eleanor Morton, Sam Lake, Amy Matthews, Chris Forbes, MC Hammersmith, Marc Jennings, Rosco McClelland, Mark Nelson, and Marjolein Robertson.

New names appearing at the Monkey Barrel include BBC New Comedy Award winner Joe Kent-Walters, the youngest ever ‘So You Think You’re Funny?’ winner Finlay Christie, and Channel 4 Sean Lock Comedy Award winner Eric Rushton.

There are also work-in-progress shows from Glenn Moore, Janine Harouni, Nish Kumar, and Sara Pascoe, These are always worth keeping an eye on, given that Ahir Shah‘s WIP show last year ended up winning the Edinburgh Comedy Award last year.

As always, there are also late night shows, from The Big Show: Monkey Barrel Comedy’s Fringe Showcase!, The Alternative Comedy Memorial Society, and new addition Chump’s Comedy.
