Theatergroep WAK‘s performance starts long before the audience are allowed to enter the giant wooden packing crate which is their venue. At the stage when the queue is still a formless mass of milling pedestrians, the actors are distributing flyers through what may be the most ingenious marketing ploy on the Fringe. Imagine a crowd of hardened festival-goers clamouring for a flyer, if your imagination will stretch to it. This same sense of playful invention pervades their show ‘about nothing’. And these Dutch clowns keep to their word; there is no plot, no characterisation, no jokes. Just forty minutes of fun as the eager audience bear willing witness to three men messing about.
