Byron Vincent has problems. Mental illness has plagued his life and several summers ago he spent time in a mental institution. Luckily for Vincent (and also the audience) he is a talented performer with an interesting and engaging story to tell.

Talk About Something You Like catalogues Vincent’s life experiences and how he deals with mental illness. He has an ability to perform with an affable and funny personality and judges the tone of the performance perfectly. He presents the sensitivity of the subject and draws the audience in through well placed jokes, autobiographical anecdotes and with his natural talent as an honest storyteller.

Vincent has a background in poetry and spoken word performance and this is obvious in his delivery. Although a theatre piece, the show does feel more like an original and anecdotal spoken word show. During the performance Vincent talks in front of a video screen which presents several mundane and humdrum films. This highlights the tedium he felt in the institution, however the performance itself is brought to life with vigour and heart.
