The serried ranks of buggies outside the venue vouch for the popularity of this Fringe family favourite. Louis Pearl has been blowing bubbles for over 30 years. This expertise comes through in his confident delivery, his ability to whip a mob of toddlers into a frenzy and yet still – mostly – remain in control, and of course in his bubbles. He demonstrates square bubbles, giant bubbles, flying bubbles, bubbles-inside-bubbles and more. The audience are given an introduction to bubble science, but as a huge percentage of them are still in the aforementioned buggies, this is kept brief. Pearl’s knowledge and showmanship mean it is impossible not to be swept up in his enthusiasm, so it almost seems a shame this is aimed so squarely at children.
