After last year’s sold-out visit to the swamp, this year Jeff Achtem of Scamp Theatre is tackling space. Cramming an entire imaginary universe into 50 minutes takes some skill, but Slapdash Galaxy mostly succeeds. The familiar cardboard and junk puppets of previous years are joined by bubbles, smoke, planets and space ships. As usual there is an engaging and non-threatening interactive element and the whole show is tied together with Achtem’s clown character, Mr Bunk. Slapdash Galaxy is slightly slower paced than previous Scamp productions and there are some technical hitches at this performance, but this is still one of the most innovative, enjoyable hours to be had on the Fringe.
