Showing @ Old College Quad, until 26 Aug

From its dreamlike opening, Polish theatre company KTO’s show drops swiftly into a nightmare world of both literal and metaphorical darkness. The Old College Quad audience are treated to a brutal, totally committed act of physical theatre. Using old 1950s-style hospital beds as a moveable set, becoming prisons, churches, barriers and brothels, this kinetic dystopia pummels the crowd with imagery and the performers throw themselves entirely into the action without vanity or fear. Although some of the action is repetitious, the visceral quality and the feeling of real pain on the faces and bodies of the actors gives this show an edge of honesty and vitality few shows can compare with. The Blind is theatre as experience and if you’ve got the stomach for it, it’s one you’re unlikely to forget.
