We’re in it now, folks; the heating’s on, the nights are long, and Jingle all the Way has jumped forward a few spaces in everyone’s Netflix queue. Even the world’s performers are content to stay at home this season of staying indoors, which is why this month’s previews list looks a bit thin (unlike our hypothetical panto previews list). Nevertheless, there’s plenty of revelry to be had in Glasgow and Edinburgh this December without necessarily having to spread any Christmas cheer at all.

Destroyer @ CCA, Glasgow, December 5th

Following the release of ken, Vancouverites Destroyer’s latest critically-lauded LP in an unbroken string of critically-lauded LPs, Dan Bejar and co make a quick appearance in Scotland for an evening of drollery and furrow-browed pondering.

UMFANG @ Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh, December 7th

After her superb Ninja Tune-released LP Symbolic Uses of Light made a stir earlier this year, techno producer UMFANG goes for a victory lap with a run of European dates.

GNOD @ Broacast, Glasgow, December 8th

Fresh from a fan-fiction fodder show with faUSt, Salford’s collectivist hellraisers return to Glasgow. This time, they’ve shed a few members and acquired a load of musical equipment they’ve no real idea how to use. Business as usual, then.

Indigo Velvet @ Liquid Room, December 8th

Tropical pop? At this time of year? Edinburgh’s own Indigo Velvet turn up the heat at one of their hometown’s finest venues this month.

Ryder the Eagle + Draws Creature Mask @ Bloc+, Glasgow, December 12th

Nobody can really explain why so much male sexual energy comes from France. Regardless, the nation’s latest purveyor will gyrate his way to our shores this festive season. For something a bit less lewd, locals Draws Creature Mask too will grace the evening with their folk-flavoured post-rock.
