Punk legend Jello Biafra with his group the Guantanamo School of Medicine will be gracing Glasgow with his presence on Tuesday (9th) at the O2 ABC. Mr Biafra is better as frontman of seminal punk rockers the Dead Kennedys, where his wistful & witty fury meant that no one was safe from mocking and condemnation.

Since the death of the Kennedys (barring the reformation with original members, barring Biafra) this punk rock agitator has worked with an eclectic bunch of collaborators. From Ministry, grunge legends Kim Thayil & Krist Novoselic in the NO WTO Combo as well as The Melvins.

Now backed by a solid band, he’s embarking on a handful of UK dates touring new EP ‘Enhanced Methods Of Questioning’. If you want to hear American punk music the way it used to be played (i.e. very well), then you could do a lot worse on a wet Tuesday night.

Fresh from alienating the unexpectant half of their audience at The Stag & Dagger festival, Glasgow’s own hardcore kings Desalvo will offer the main support.

It’s been a visceral few years of gigging since the release of debut LP, Mood Poisoner. Mixing hardcore punk, grindcore and a touch of metal it’s a loud, punchy, doestn’t give a shit mash that churns out a hell of a lot of fun – expect a pit!

Not only that, Glasgow duo Bronto Skylift will open, creating a louder melodic racket than most bands four pieces. Considering that one of their songs is called ‘Danny Glover isn’t Dead Yet ’ – how can you fail to get in after doors?
