The Capitals champion music festival returns this weekend, across a gauntlet of 9 venues to deliver some 140 bands of all tastes and sizes.  The Wee Review’s going to give you a slimmed down, run down.

In it’s inaugural year the festival circled some of the tight knit venues in town, with a final stramash featuring the 10:04’s (with the eponymous drummer Paul Haddow) and Idlewild at The HMV Picturehouse.

After getting out of the blocks the occasion has taken on the entire weekend and a new roster of venues – including the beloved Liquid Rooms.

Wristbands (which MUST be collected from Whistle Binkies before entry to any venue) will allow access across the board, but for priority access for headliners Razorlight on Sunday,  there’s a special £50 ticket available

Tickets are still available in person from: Avalanche RecordsRipping RecordsThe Royal Mile TavernWhistle Binkies and Tickets Scotland.

At The Wee Review we have been fortunate (and unlucky) enough to catch the majority of the bands involved in their own right, or as support for touring bands kicking into town.
We’re not here to tell you why you should go and see X and not Y, but we will try and make it possible to see as many of them as your ear drums can handle.

Check our spreadsheet for Haddowfest Saturday and Haddowfest Sunday.

Food stops and toilet breaks withstanding and with every band, based on last years efforts, working their wee baws off to get on and off stage as seamlessly as possible you could conceivably catch.

There will be the unavoidable overlap, but we feel there’s enough of a mix bag and, taking journey times into account, you should be able to see at least a handful of songs by each band we’re pointing towards.

However – the best band you catch might be simply from turning into Whistle Binkies after lunch on Saturday, with the Edinburgh Academy Stage or stumbling into  Maggies Chamber on Sunday evening and holing up for the rest of the fest.

What we can assure you is there’s a wealth of talent the Haddow Fest guys have tirelessly been rounding up over the last few months, the pay off will be a plenty!
