The Whimsical whitterings of the female mind form the basis of The Laundry of Life Pegged on the Line, a brand new one woman show from established band and cabaret singer, Dee Mardi.

Having previously worked with the likes of Ken Dodd and Bobby Davro, Mardi has moved on to fanning her filthy French frillies in the most public of places, as she relays the joys of men, romance, the search for the illusive G Spot, break ups, and the trials of family life, whilst un-pegging her own washing from a clothes line. Performed using the music of jazz and blues, plus some very special collaborations with the composer Jeffrey Wilson, The Laundry of Life Pegged on the Line also features poetry and live accompaniment from Manchester University music student, Dan Roland.

Described as a “mixed load” this production takes a closer look at our lives through the mystery of our washing, as Mardi states, “What’s on our washing line reflects the clean and the dirtier sides of our lives: wears and tears, stains, loves and losses.” The contrasts of the hectic pace of modern life with the simple sight of drying clothes just form the basis of a monologue that tickles, titillates and goes deeper than any detergent ever could.
