A word of warning about Catriona Knox’s show – If you’re someone who hides underneath their coat when audience participation comes around then it might not be your thing. If on the other hand you quite like the idea of joining in with one of this performer’s temporary realities then you’ll be in for an enjoyable ride and the more you play along the more fun you’ll have.

Knox is an excellent character comic like a potty-mouthed Joyce Grenfell. Whether her characters are pulled from observation – the frazzled business woman yelling into her phone, a sight you’ll find at any fringe venue – or her imagination such as her aging inflatable sex doll, she brings them vividly to life with a commitment to their creation that leaves her drained by the end of her show.

Some skits run out of steam rather than reaching a conclusion and it’s clear that punchlines are not Knox’s strong point. However she switches characters so quickly you never have time to feel unsatisfied. With a spectacular ending and a capacity to engage many performers would be envious of, Catriona Knox’s show is well worth seeking out – just be prepared to join in.
