The title of this film alone conjours up images of the Fabulous Ladies Strip joint, bar stools being licked and drinking gin and tonics out of a shoe, but it couldn’t be further from the truth – Chase the Slut is far more M&S than S&M. In fact, if outrageous cheeky leather bound sauciness is your guilty pleasure then this is not your golden ticket.

This cheeky little film is a star crossed lovers, High School Musical, rites of passage kind of affair with just a hint of naughty. Chase (Vanessa Claire Smith) and Tibb (Danika Sudik) are best friends. Tibb has a trust fund, and Chase has a crappy minimum wage job and broken car. She needs $1,500 to get her car fixed and start chasing her dreams, but she’s broke. This is when the fun starts, Chase excepts a bet to find the guy from the bar in the rust coloured shirt and seduce him. A fine wager indeed, as this guy, Gabe (Michael Kirky) is from the Noah’s Disciples local Baptist church, and to make matters worse, the son of a preacher man. Well, come on Jesus had friends that were prostitutes too. So, game face on. Slowly but surely their worlds collide and blurr into one big fuzzy globe of the world beside lamp. Chase opens her heart to guinea pigs and baking chocolate crispie crosses and he begins to think he’s James Dean. You know how it goes, she’s from the wrong side of the tracks, he’s at ballet school…of course. Ultimately it’s a quirky little tale and it takes karaoke crazy gran to convince us all to start following our dreams and our hearts– and of course the ability to take up car mechanics.
