Remember the 80s? The Lost Fingers do, but they’d like to improve on some of the music produced during the golden age of cheese. This they have done by covering a number of old favourites in a 1930s jazz style. A variety of genres are represented, with covers of AC/DC, Stevie Wonder, George Michael and more. It’s to the band’s credit that they include some less obvious choices (anyone for Paula Abdul?), and their musical ability is impossible to fault. Oddly, what lets the gig down slightly is the group’s professionalism. It may sound like a strange complaint to level, but this lacks the raw energy usually present in a live performance. It’s a top quality, likable show – but with more sense of spontaneity it could be even better.
