In a show full of attention-grabbing cabaret, Mikelangelo stands out by virtue of nothing more than his velvet voice. Mind you, the animal magnetism and self-deprecating confidence of his onstage persona probably help. In this solo show, he traces a career that runs parallel to Presley, but with an Eastern European twist. Although he covers plenty of Elvis classics, Mikelangelo is no impersonator. From the piano accordion to the dance moves, Mikelangelo has a style all his own. A backing band provides rollicking Black Sea-style rhythms to Elvis as you have never heard him before, and Mikelangelo alternates between storytelling and crooning. It all makes for an intimate and engaging evening with one of modern cabaret’s great talents.
