Playing @ King’s Theatre until 17th Jan 2010
Story: Everyone’s after Robinson Crusoe’s (Johnny Mac) booty, from Cap’n Blackheart (Grant Stott) to his own mum (Allan Stewart). Poor Crusoe however, doesn’t realise why everyone wants to give him a Jolly Roger-ing, until he notices the truly bootylicious Girl Friday (Moyo Omoniyi), drops his pants and reveals the treasure before Blackheart makes fish food of them all.
Outcome: Anyone wondering where the Princes Street trams have gone need look no further than the King’s where they are flown in for your heckles. Yes, director/writer Paul Elliot is back for the annual smut fest, rewording last years jokes and cashing in on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The 3D is swapped for UV offering an underwater scene with frivoling fish on invisible sticks and Stewart fighting off a shark with a handbag. The whole cast are on top form but the pros are left floundering when newcomer Omoniyi manages to sing the pants of Mac. Nothing unpredictable then, but well executed silliness for landlubber or seadog alike.
