Showing @ Hill Street Theatre, 2-26 Aug (not 14), 10.30

For an artist whose work has so much adult content, Dali’s seems to provoke an immediate response in children. Hinge Theatre are banking on this with their family-friendly production, focusing less on a factual account of the artist’s life, but rather on emotions and, appropriately, imagination. Hannah (11) and her brother Aidan (8) are budding artists and already established Dali fans. Aidan found the show confusing, but enjoyed the visual aspect and costumes. Hannah felt it helped her to understand the inspiration behind Dali’s paintings. Both children loved the dreamcatcher workshop afterwards, so it is worth paying the additional £2 (discounted price with ticket). This production has a welcoming, small-scale approach that is sadly lacking in children’s theatre on the Fringe.
