Edinburgh International Film Festival 2012: Special Events

Saving your wallet after the disappointing ticket offers at this year’s EIFF are the free events. Kicking off with Introduction to Film Studies: ‘Art Cinema’ and Narrative, Martine Pierquin is available for discussion on the relevance of art cinema for international audiences as part of Edinburgh University’s Open Studies Summer Course. A particular highlight is the rare chance to hear Robert Carlyle speak publically, with the BAFTA in Scotland Interview. Also notable are the masterclasses with directors Victor Kossakovsky and Wang Bing. For those interested in acting, BAFTA in Scotland presents an Introduction to Acting while Harry McEntire will give advice for aspiring actors on the highs and lows of the business. The special events section closes on June 30th with the EIFF awards ceremony; ticket holders can come to watch as filmmakers receive their 2012 awards and round up this year’s festival.
