Showing @ Summerhall, Edinburgh until Tue 12 Aug @ 14:00

Invisible Walls takes place in ‘The Street’ behind the Summerhall’s Courtyard. The audience is exposed to the elements which is a bold decision from Kosovan theatre company Teatri ODA considering Scotland’s unpredictable weather. Despite the possibilities of a shower the audience is transported to Kosovo where we are told of the hardships and injustices that affect the population.

Invisible Walls is a very tactile production. The audience is given passports to be filled out and are then are greeted by the happy and outgoing performers. We are ushered in to a secluded theatre space on the street and the performance happens around us. The area is small and claustrophobic and the performers balance this by being exuberant and intimate. The story covers human rights, suppression and the small and innocent victories that occur during such times. The experiences depicted are influenced by the lives of the performers and their families and the strong connection to the source material is evident in the emotional and truthful performance.

Invisible Walls is a short thirty minute performance and the intimacy and closeness of the performance may put some people off. If you would like to take your chance on the Scottish weather then you will be rewarded with a courageous and exciting piece of street theatre.
