Rhythmic Circus offer just what their name suggests: an array of beat-based acrobatics, percussive tricks, and funky, infectious musical feats. Suitable for all ages, their show Feet Don’t Fail Me Now brings together an audience in joyous toe-tapping, hand-clapping, bum-shaking unity.

Beats are created, flipped, inverted, slowed down and sped up in this whirlwind performance. Comprised of tap dancers and a six-piece band, the show is both visually and aurally spectacular. Heatbox’s unbelievable beat boxing contrasts the physical beats produced by feet and hands, and the stage is brought alive with pulsating rhythms. Alex Rossi, the lead singer, cuts across this in sultry, soulful tones, harmonising the group.

It’s a shame, however, that the show is performed in an auditorium that restricts the audience’s movements so much. As a piece that actively encourages viewers to take the beat with them and break out of that everyday stasis, it would be more suited to a non-seated environment. Despite this, the night is a delight. Rhythmic Circus truly harnesses that “rhythm-of-life” ambience, infusing it into an irresistibly feel-good production from which you will leave stomping, clapping and dancing all the way down the road.
