The Fringe is nearly here.

We’re looking for new deck hands (reviewers) to steer the good ship Wee Review through its choppy waters (write some reviews).

Would you like to join us?

The key skills we ask for in our writers are:

  • an excellent standard of written English or Scots
  • the ability to write clear, concise and insightful reviews and/or opinion pieces to deadline
  • a good existing knowledge of the arts, or a desire to learn

We welcome applications from writers of any age or background. You just need to be dedicated, reliable and enthusiastic.

At this point in time, we’re looking for established reviewers with experience of writing arts reviews for other publications. There’s opportunities at other times of the year for brand new reviewers to join us.

You don’t have to be based in Scotland either. We’d be glad to hear from people coming to Edinburgh for August and wanting to guest for us.

Regrettably and inevitably, we currently have no scope for payment of our writers. The site is run head to toe on an entirely voluntary basis. On the plus side, you will be part of a friendly team at one of the Fringe’s most prolific reviewing publications. We have regular get-togethers and you will have the opportunity to see some fantastic (or maybe not!) live performance for free.

To apply, please contact The Wee Review’s Editor, Robert Peacock, on robert.peacock@theweereview.com, enclosing two examples of or links to previously published reviews. Please also specify your availability during August.

Deadline: Fri 30 Jun 2017, 7pm
