Made in Perthshire, the show commissioned in 2015 for the 10th anniversary of Perth Concert Hall, gets a second outing later this month.
The show, directed by Perthshire musicians Ross Ainslie and Patsy Reid, was designed to showcase local talent and to celebrate traditional and contemporary pieces with strong Perthshire connections. Songwriters Fraser Anderson and Lisa Rigby will feature alongside Ainslie and Reid. A top-class band featuring Ali Hutton, Hamish Napier, Graeme Stephen, Signy Jakobsdottir and Ben Nicholls, a string section and a 30-strong choir complete the line-up.
The show will be restaged at Perth Concert Hall on Friday 27 January as part of Perth’s Celtic Sessions series, before a performance as part of Celtic Connections in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 29 January.
“I am so happy we are getting the chance to revisit what was a very special gig for Ross and I!” revealed Reid. “We had our dream team of a band, who gave so much to the project and we can’t wait to get stuck into the music again. It’s such an honour to have been given the opportunity to curate this show with Ross, and to stage it at genuinely, one of my favourite venues in the country! Taking it to Celtic Connections is just the icing on the cake!”
Andy Shearer, creative director for contemporary music for Horsecross Arts, who commissioned the work explained, “While the core of the show is Ross and Patsy’s own contemporary compositions inspired by traditional music, there are also elements of rock, jazz and classical and some great song writing from Fraser and Lisa. Made in Perthshire is genuinely one of the best things we’ve ever had in the venue.”
