Who knew Edinburgh’s love affair with gin is officially three centuries old?

Or how about the fact naval officers were actually more likely to drink gin than rum?

And did you ever imagine that gin and tonic was once a medicine?

Mind you, for some of us it still is …

These are just three of the surprising facts we discovered at The Art & Science of Gin taking place at 99 Hanover Street.

Hosted by Edinburgh Gin, this multi-medium experience uses projection mapping to explore the history of our city’s favourite spirit. It also offers a beginner’s guide to botanicals, and shows you how to get the most taste out of this beloved beverage.

For a start, selecting the right garnish can be the difference between pleasure and pain. Meanwhile, deciding on the right brand of tonic isn’t nearly as complicated as we once thought.

Even more exciting, is the fact you’ll find yourself sampling Edinburgh Gin’s product range pretty much on arrival. In fact, we’re thinking their Rhubarb and Ginger Liqueur could well go on to be our new best friend.

So with gin appreciation now officially a thing, it looks as if Happy Hour just took a fabulous turn for the better. Ah yes …

Gin, gin, where do I begin?

Having you inside of me, is like an old friend popping in.
