@ Momentum Venues, St Stephen’s Church, Edinburgh, until Sun 30 Aug 2015 @ 11:00

(Reviewed during previews)

Presented by Universal Arts at Momentum Venues, this show will appeal to adults and children alike.  It unleashes the inner child as you engage with the puppets, masterfully brought to life and executed by a team of nine puppeteers and the ringmaster in this breathtaking show.

Theatre Klinika Lalek, Poland’s finest puppeteers, have created this spectacular show especially for St Stephen’s Church. This circus without animals features life-size marionettes – the jovial Elephant, good-looking Giraffe and mighty Lion. The Giraffe, Emmanuelle, sings about love, and tap dances; the Lion teaches us about courage, and the Elephant about happiness. They are joined by tamers, a strongman, a butterfly, clowns, and the “wee sweeties”, miniature puppets of the larger ones, who cleverly perform tricks, moving with grace and humour.

This is puppetry at its best, a real show of technical ability, with a pace just right for the younger audience. The puppeteers, commanded by the ring master, transport the audience to another world of make believe, including the the adults amongst us.

There’s plenty of interaction and the opportunity for the kids (and adults) to interact with the cast. It’s a show to delight all, and my heart is full of joy for the biggest marionette circus in the world.
