Steve Earle and Graham Nash have been announced among the headliners for the Southern Fried Festival, Perth’s festival of Americana. The festival, now in its eleventh year takes place at Perth Concert Hall and other city centre venues from Thu 26 to Sun 29 Jul.

Three-time Grammy winning Earle will open the festival on the Thursday where he will be supported by husband-and-wife duo The Mastersons. The following night the Concert Hall will be welcoming another elder statesman in the form of Rodney Crowell, in a double bill with Iris DeMent. DeMent, who had a successful previous visit to Southern Fried in 2011 won last year’s Americana Trailblazer Award at the Americana Music Honors & Awards.

Britain’s own Graham Nash started out in the Hollies, but will also be forever associated with the Americana sounds of Crosby, Stills and Nash (and Young). He presents An Intimate Evening of Songs and Stories at the Concert Hall on Sat 28 Jul.

Closing headliner on the Sunday will be Gretchen Peters, doing a one-off show inviting audience requests and featuring the specially formed Southern Fried String Quartet led by Patsy Reid.

There’s much more besides the Concert Hall gigs, including a programme at The Salutation Hotel and an afternoon show at Perth Theatre by Blue Rose Code and The Bevvy Sisters on Sat 28 Jul. There will also be smaller gigs, open mic sessions, a free outdoor stage and various fringe events.
